Long-standing emo and pop-punk favorites, Motion City Soundtrack, have exciting news for fans! The Minneapolis-based band, fronted by Justin Pierre, is set to release their seventh studio album, The Same Old Wasted Wonderful World, on September 17 via Epitaph. This marks their first full-length album in ten years, following 2015’s Panic Stations.
The album features 11 tracks and boasts impressive guest appearances from Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump, Citizen’s Mat Kerekes, and Sincere Engineer’s Deanna Belos. Fans can get a taste of the new music with the lead single, “She Is Afraid,” accompanied by a Severance-inspired music video. This isn’t entirely new territory for the band; they contributed “Stop Talking” to the movie Didi last year.
Recorded with Sean O’Keefe at Chicago’s Electrical Audio, this album comes after the band’s reunion in late 2019. Justin Pierre shared insights into the album’s themes, explaining, “It’s almost like I felt I didn’t have an identity [in the past] and now by working through the hard stuff, I know who I am.” Get ready to dive into the next chapter of Motion City Soundtrack’s musical journey!
