Vicious Bishop Drops Debut EP Featuring Punk Legends
  • PublishedAugust 20, 2024

Vicious Bishop, a punk, ska-punk, and reggae power trio from Lancaster and Morecambe, has just released their debut EP, ‘Miracle Formula 168.’ Formed in 2021, the band features ex-Toy Dolls drummer Dave Nuttall, bassist Adz Woods, and vocalist/guitarist Rich Davenport, formerly of Radio Stars. Their energetic, raw, and melodic sound draws inspiration from iconic bands like The Clash, Stiff Little Fingers, Rancid, and Hüsker Dü, as well as reggae and ska influences.

Influential Guest Collaborations

The four-track EP showcases guest appearances from prominent punk legends. Andy Ellison of Radio Stars co-wrote the track ‘She’s So Dissatisfied’, lending his talent alongside Davenport. Sham 69’s guitarist Dave Parsons plays a guest solo on ‘Shouting Down The Sewer’, while Micky Geggus from Cockney Rejects contributes his signature guitar skills to ‘Blood In The Water’.

The track ‘She’s So Dissatisfied’, initially demoed in the ’90s by Rich and Andy, was reworked with a fresh punky reggae twist. “I loved Andy’s lyric, which touches on the dark side of hard drugs,” says Davenport. The band has seen live audiences respond enthusiastically to their music, praising the combination of tight drumming, funky punk basslines, and powerful lyrics.

Punk Roots and Upcoming Gigs

Each member of Vicious Bishop brings a wealth of experience to the table. Rich played with Radio Stars during their infamous 1995 Marquee show, while Adz previously toured internationally with punk/mod band The Convulsions. Dave toured with the Toy Dolls, showcasing his dynamic drumming.

Vicious Bishop will be performing at this year’s Rebellion Festival with Andy Ellison, featuring Radio Stars hits and the cult classic ‘Desdemona’. They are also set to appear at the Morecambe Punk Festival in November and plan to release a full-length album in 2025.

Get your hands on the ‘Miracle Formula 168’ EP and experience the band’s punky, reggae-infused sound!
