Latifah performs “Ease on Down the Road.” It was a tribute to Jones.  

Queen Latifah performed at the 2025 Oscars. She sang “Ease on Down the Road.” It is from “The Wiz.” She honored Quincy Jones. Dancers surrounded her onstage. She wore a gold gown. She sang the musical number.  

Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey introduced her. “We talk about Black excellence,” said Goldberg. “We’re talking about Quincy.” He was first Black composer nominated for Original Song. This was in 1967.  

Quincy Jones died November 3, 2024. He was 91 years old. He won 28 Grammy Awards. He was a producer, songwriter, and bandleader. He also composed film scores. He worked on “The Color Purple.” He also scored “In Cold Blood” and “The Wiz.”  

The Oscars also had other tributes. Lisa, Doja Cat, and Raye sang a James Bond tribute. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo performed a “Wizard of Oz” medley. They are “Wicked” co-stars.
