Minus the Bear Reunion: Headlining Las Vegas Festival
Minus the Bear reunion is set to headline Best Friends Forever Festival. The festival is a three-day event in Las Vegas, Nevada. The band will perform their 2005 album, Menos el Oso, in full. The math-rock band had broken up in 2018. They felt their 17-year run was complete.
Minus the Bear built a devoted fanbase. Their distinct style featured finger-tapping guitar work. They also used creative pedals and electronics. The festival will run October 10, 11, and 12. The band’s headline day is not yet specified.
The band also signed a new manager, Jordyn Reese. She will help steer their return. Guitarist Dave Knudson praised Reese’s vision and enthusiasm. He said, “Vision, enthusiasm and drive are the most important qualities.” He added, “She seemed like the perfect choice.”
In a 2018 interview, the band discussed their disbandment. They cited life events and differing creative attitudes. They wanted to keep the band’s legacy intact. They also wanted to go out while still doing well.
The 2025 festival lineup includes Jawbreaker and Rilo Kiley. Texas Is the Reason and Pedro the Lion will also perform. Superchunk and Wednesday are on the bill. Tigers Jaw and Rival Schools will play. Pretty Girls Make Graves are also included.
Special highlights include Mineral’s farewell show. Cursive will play Domestica and The Ugly Organ. Bear vs. Shark will play Terrorhawk. Snowing, a Midwest emo band, will also reunite.
The festival takes place at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center. It spans three days and features two stages. Tickets are currently on sale. The 2024 festival was headlined by Sunny Day Real Estate. Cap’n Jazz and the Blood Brothers also headlined.
